The transition from doing free photo sessions as you build your portfolio to telling those first potential clients that you are now charging for your services can be hard. It is a door we all have passed through as we move to monitize our time. In todays podcast I talk about how to find your price as a photographer.
How to deal with a guest who decides to bring their pro or prosumer level dslr to a wedding you are hired to capture. As a preface to this podcast episode it may come off as a little bit of a rant but i assure you this is not my intention. Every wedding I have had the opportunity too capture has had at least one person with a dslr camera. Don’t get me wrong I am not opposed to people capturing the day to share on their social media or to look back on later but leave the big camera at home. I say this to all those who are on the fence about brining their dslr to a wedding. Maybe you want to get into wedding photography and think this is a good way to build your portfolio. I say think about the potential photos the paid photographer may miss out on because the guests think you are also their as a hired hand. Couples spend good money so that their guests can enjoy the celebration with them and one of the reasons they hire a photographer is to capture the day for them. If a friend or family member is out their confusing guests as to who the paid photographer is it leaves room for missed moments.
How many photos should you be sending to your clients? In todays episode we talk about how many I edit/send as well as some of the pros and cons of minimum quantities. Welcome back everyone it has been a little bit of a break in the show but we are back and talking wedding photography.
